It’s been more than 50 years since the last time humans set foot on the moon’s surface.  Musk believes that this waiting period is too long and that it is time for us to move on to the next step. Musk holds the opinion that we ought to make a second trip to the moon in order to set up permanent settlements there. And after that, he envisions building a colony on Mars so that humans can evolve into a species that is capable of surviving in space and inhabiting more than one planet.

Musk plans on doing all of this with the help of the Starship rocket. The enormous rocket built of stainless steel and known as Starship is presently being put through its trials at the research & development centre that SpaceX maintains in the state of Texas. The primary purpose of Starship is to serve as a vehicle for the transportation of both cargo and people on journeys to the moon and Mars. The present Starship models have a height of approximately 150 feet, which itself is comparable to the size of a tower with 15 floors, and each of them is driven by a combination of three powerful Rocket engines.

Musk is extremely confident that SpaceX will be able to successfully land mankind on Mars within the present decade utilising these rockets.
